<-- : I took some pictures and named my album: Sugarbakin' I made: 1) Tiramisu...
It was my first time making tiramisu. I had trouble getting all the ingredients at first but found them after going to three different supermarkets. Of all the stuff that I made this weekend, this is probably the most expensive one. Luckily every cent was well worth it. My aunt and uncle said it was delicious, although I personally think it could be better. :) Practice makes perfect I guess! 2) Cornflake Cups
My little cousin, Vanessa, enjoying the Cornflake Cups This is a very familiar snack in my family. It is my youngest sister's specialty, and at one point, she used to bake them to sell for some extra pocket money. I will be bringing these to the office tomorrow for my co-workers. I hope the enjoy it! Because this is my favourite snack during Chinese New Year. 3) Pecan Puffs
I wanted to make these because the recipe was very short and I had most of the ingredients at home (chopped pecans, egg whites, brown sugar). At this time, my friend, Janet had joined me. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, we must've done something wrong because the egg whites would not form stiff peaks. Tired and somewhat impatient, we threw it into the oven anyway. Lol. It turned out like a marshmallow texture - sweet and sticky with a nutty flavour to it. It was actually pretty delicious. I will attempt to do this again next time. 4) Cookie Balls
Dissatisfied, we decided to choose another easy recipe from the recipebook. Butter cookies. How wrong can we get? The ingredients required were butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and flour. So we decided to make butter cookies. It was weird that we didn't need to include eggs. But given our previous experience, we decided to follow the receipe. We added oatmeal and chopped pecans for that extra flavour. When the batter was ready, it was extremely thick, like Playdol. Brushing off our instincts, we decided to start rolling small balls of cookie batter, just like the recipe instructed. Janet: Erm, are you sure we shouldnt make it flat? Like cookies? Me: It should melt in the oven and become flat by itself. Janet: Are you sure? I think we should flatten it first and then put it into the oven. Me: Trust me. Last time I baked cookies and they became paper-thin. Janet: (Looking skeptical) Ok... 10 minutes later... Janet: Candy... the cookies arent melting wor.. Me: Uh oh.. lets turn up the heat. 10 minutes later.. Janet: Candy.. it looks exactly the same as when we put it in... Me: You're right.. I wonder why.. Janet: So... I guess we made Cookie Balls, not Butter Cookies? That was how we made Cookie Balls. My cousin, Jeff, thinks I should start selling Cookie Balls. Me: Why? Is it because they taste good? Jeff: (Snickers) No, because they look different. Me: .............
